Busy Summer

Hey Everyone
We have been crazy in Sioux City - from the river flowing the Siouxland Area, working on the new store in Spencer, IA and of course the NEW ITEMS across the board.
Since the summer has now turned into Fall, we have the start of College Football, NFL, Hockey plus new DeWalt 20 Volt Tools, New Woodworking tools (PSI, Woodpeckers, and the additions of Festool to the Sioux City Tool Depot.
First about Spencer, Iowa:
We have all of the shelving put up and are starting to send up transfers with all of the items that we stock from the Sioux City Stores, we are going to have a mixture of The New Sioux City Iron Company and Tool Depot.
We have put up the outdoor signs on the front of the building but we are not open YET!!! I will let you know when the store is open but it is different from Sioux Falls, LeMars and Sioux City - It has more open spaces, a larger Cordless Section and we are changing up the Tool Wall and mixing in the tools with the Accessories.
Second (MY FAVORITE) New Tools:
DeWalt has came out with a WHOLE new program - 20 Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Tool Kits (there are no bare tools available yet but dont worry we will get this taken care of for you). We just placed the order with DeWalt and I am not sure how soon we will be getting these items but they are on their way.
Milwaukee M12 Camo and Red Jackets Kits - We have them in STOCK!!!!! Camo Jackets we have in Stock - Large, X-Large, 2X-Large and 3X-Large, in Red Jackets we have Large, X-Large, 2X-Large and 3X-Large. These are while supplies last because I am not sure how many more I can get more from Milwaukee. :)
So back to Football - I dont follow the NFL or hockey but I LOVE Big 10 Football - Especially Hawkeye Football (dont worry my DeWalt reps, We will not rub in the fact you would rather wear Red hurt too much).

Crazy Summer Days

Hey Everyone

I know that it has been a while since I have been on here to talk about anything. We have gotten in a ton of new items. Some of these new items are because of the flooding going on in the Siouxland Area, others because it makes sense to stock based on the brand etc.

So what is going on here in the Siouxland Area:

First off flood stage is 30 feet and the river has been holding steady at 34.25 to 34.50 feet. That is alot of water in Sioux City. It has messed up the summer around here by having no river to boat on, no biking trail to bike on and it has truely messed up the golf courses along the river. This is a historic flood but not as bad at the Sioux City Flood of 1952 or 1953.

So what new products does the Tool Depot's have in stock?

1) Koshin Semi-Trash Pumps - 2", 3" and 4"
Koshin Trash Pump - 3"

2) Abbort Rubber - 20' Suction Hose and 50' Discharge Hose
We also have the stringers, couplers and adapters - all of the pieces that go with the Pumps

3) We have had Generac Generators for a while now but we added Generac Pressure Washers

4) The coolest thing is DeWalt Hand Tools....We have tape measures, hammers, wrecking bars, knives, chalk reels and chalk, Hacksaw and Saws, and the new Tool Boxes. These are pretty cool....my favorite is the 2 part box the top looks like a sawzall case and the bottom looks like a plumbers tote.

This weekend in Sioux City, we are having a major event - Sioux City Rock n Rods - this event will be awesome....Drag Racing on Water Street, Show n Shine around 400 cars, Free Concerts and Food Vendors (funnel cakes, cotton candy and hot dogs). This is the First Time ever for this event - come 1 come ALL.

We are also working on the new store in Spencer, Iowa....It is the dog days of summer.

Festool Kapex Miter Saw

Hey Festool Lovers

After the long holiday weekend, we are back working and getting ready for a hot relaxing summer. So that means I am ready to talk about what we learned about in Omaha, NE and Festool.

Starting with Festool's Kapex Sliding Compound Miter Saw with a selling price of $1300.00 - this thing is awesome!!!

This mitersaw can cut a piece of wood as thin as a piece of paper.

These pictures are the sample I took away from the class.

The kapex has a ton of awesome features, starting with the fact it only weighs 47lbs, which means it is easy to take it to and from the jobsite to work with. Also instead of having to set the saw up in the middle of the room (which means it could be in the way for others that are also working on the project) You can place it up against the wall and still do the compound cuts, because of the forward moving head.

The dust collection on the Kapex is about 91% best in class for efficiency and should be used with a 36mm hose and the Festool CT26E or CT36E Dust Extractor.

So what can this saw cut, that is why people purchase Miter Saws to begin with. It has a 10-1/4" blade with a 30mm arbor but it has the capacity of a 12" miter saw. It can cut a piece of 6-5/8" crown nested 1" thick with a 4-3/4" base with a 50 degree left miter and a 60 degree right miter.

So how is this part of the Festool System?

The Systainer Box #1 (497563) lines up with the base and can be used to hold longer boards with cutting. Also the Kapex is designed to integrate with the Festool Multifuction Tables.

What does this item do?

It copies and transfers angles to the Kapex accurately. The center of cut line if specially coated for alignment using the dual laser system captures inside and outside corners. Aggressive locking mechanism helps to maintain settings.

You can't believe what this item is capable of doing, it is totally awesome!!! So would I purchase this item.........YES, I WOULD. :)

Festool

Hey Everyone

I know I am suppose to be writing this blog about the differences in Festool Tools, but this is even better. After many lists on the different items that I would like to bring in, a list for each type of tool, I started noticing a pattern......

This is awesome news for Everyone that wants to get into Festool System. We are going to close these out and bring in the new items. These tools have not been used but have been hanging up as display units. We have limited quanities on hand of Dust Extractors, Circular Saws and all the other Festool items and it is First Come First Receive.......

Example - CT22 Dust Extractor - 583366 - WAS $454.50 - NOW $ 409.507

- DF500Q Jointer - 574283 - WAS $825.00 - NOW $ 742.50

- Cordless C12 MICD Drill - 564178 - WAS $470.00 - NOW $266.25

Remember these are examples of a just small selection of items that we are closing out. Please let us know if you have any questions. These items are also available in the stores at these prices.

Festool Rocks and is AWESOME

Hey Everyone

After 2 days of training on Festool, not only am I excited about what I saw and learned but excited on why we brought Festool into our Tool Depot stores.

So a little history about Festool. Festool was started in Germany in 1925 by 2 families. One of the same families owns it today with a granddaughter getting ready to take over in the next couple of years. In 1997, Festool was brought to the United States by an importer but in 2000-2001 Festool took it back in house and opened it up the the US Market.

So why would a person want to purchase Festool? There are 7 unique reasons to go with a Festool Tool. Here they are (I LOVE FESTOOL and WHAT I LEARNED IN OMAHA).

1) System Design - Everything works together with Festool, the tools, of course work but don't forget about the accessories and did you ever thing about using the systainer boxes. Trust me I will explain this.

2) Economic Efficiency - Cuts set up time by 73%, I will explain....

3) Service Life - 1st year - Festool pays for shipping both ways if something goes wrong with the tool

2nd and 3rd year - Consumer pays the freight to Festool's repair site in Indinia and Festool pays the freight back to the customer.

If the tools goes into Festool they look over the entire tool to make sure nothing else it wrong with it, that means it is life getting a BRAND new Tool back.

4) Specialization - Festool Tools and accessories are Job Specialized to the jobs they say can do.

5) Innovation of New Tools - They don't just reinvent the wheel, if the Tool does the job it is suppose to do and they can't see how to redo it they don't. ex....Fein Multimaster Tool - they can't see a way to make it better, so they let Fein corner the market. They make a tool better for a certain application where they see needed.

6) Ergonomics - they make tools better for the people that are using them. Like the pressures on a persons wrist, so they are not over stressed.

7) Environment - make the tools safer, like the brake on the Kapex Mitersaw
- keeping work areas cleaner with the Dust Collection

I will post more about what I learned after I process the last two days, I have a TON of information!!!!! We will also be adding items to our Festool Line-up and will be doing demostrations in Sioux City and Sioux Falls!!!! I had a blast in Omaha, with Steve (trainer), the Tool Depot staff and the 14 others in the class. Steve has a ton of knowledge and knows how to relate it for us to share with others.

P.S. I don't know which tool was my favorite - I think I love them all.

Festool and Elton John

Hey Everyone

So what does Festool and Elton John have to do with Tool Depot? First, Elton John is coming to Sioux City for a performance on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 (I will totally post pictures after the concert). Then on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 - I head to Omaha with 2 other Tool Depot Dudes for a Festool Training Classes on Thursday and Friday.

So what does this Festool Class hold, I dont really know except they are going to show us the best uses for the tools.

I will keep you upto date on what we will be doing and what we learn - Can't wait to pass it on to you.

DeWalt 14" Diamond Blade

Hey Everyone

We have received the new DeWalt 14" Diamond Blade, DW8500, this blade is the new technology for the abrasive chopsaw blades. You ask why would I want to change from an abrasive blade to a diamond blade that has a manufacturer advertised price of $249.00 + Free Freight on ToolDepot247.com - well here is your answer.

This 14" Diamond Blade cuts pipe, steel studs, angle iron, rebar and threaded rod. It makes use of the new advanced brazing technology and premium diamond grit lasts more than 100 times the standard chopsaw abrasive blades.

The steel blade core provides the constant cutting depth capacity and stability of a solid core and the exposed diamond matrix allows the blade to cut concrete, plastic, fiberglass, rubber, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel and ferrous metals.

So at $4.95 a chopsaw blade multiplied by 100 wheels - $495.00 - this is just easy math, this blade is awesome and easy to use. It can also be used on any Chopsaw, Milwaukee - MIL6176-20, MIL6180-20, DeWalt - D28715 and Makita - 2414NB.

I hope you enjoy our video, we showed the outside salesmen at The New Sioux City Iron Company/Industrial Tools n Machinery, the new blade in the warehouse. They have a sample of the blade with them, ask them to see it.

This is NOT recommended with the Cold Cut Chopsaws - these run at a faster RPM.

Enjoy Everyone

We have had one exciting week, starting last Saturday we had the first series of storms go thru the Siouxland area, not so good was the torando that touched down in Mapleton, Iowa.

Our thoughts and prayers are with that community.

We even have a golden paddle that gets passed on year to year. I was called by my mom about the storm and let everyone know that the sirens were going off and we need to head to the basement. We were all safe.

My week so far.....

Hey Everyone

I know that it is only Tuesday, January 25, 2011 but this week has been alot of fun so far...I am still sitting at work (yes, it is my favorite time of day....everyone is gone, the phones are not ringing, unless it is a wrong number or North High calling to let me know my child was not at school - dont know anything about that one, just glad we did not have that when I was going to school.) :)

So what has made this week so much fun or interesting in my book. Yesterday, Monday, I spent 1-1/2 hours with Mark Hahn, the radio guy, in a carpeted room (get your minds out of the gutter) recording a radio spot that starts tomorrow, Wednesday, on Kool 99.5 in Sioux City for the next 10 days. It was pretty cool how the whole process goes.

First, he started out doing a voice test, so he could see how loud I was going to be for the recording, making sure I did not talk directly into the mike so it sounded more like someone talking to you in a conversation. Then we did the 1st reading, then I thought to myself as he was playing it back, "Why am I doing this to myself? I sound really really weird."

He then walked me thru it and did another recording, still thinking to myself - "I so should not be doing this."

Then he broke it apart and we did a cut and paste recording (recording one sentence at a time), like you would do in Word, then he switched around and then put it back together. Then we listened to it, I asked him what he thought, I received NO RESPONSE!!!! Then he emailed me the spots and told me to pick one of the two and let him know which one to play.

So you know what I did - I made everyone at work listen to it and received a 50/50 response, some people liked the natural commercial and the others they liked the cut and paste commercial. The only thing my dad could say was why did you not say "Hey Big Boys come down to Tool Depot" in a low 900 number voice. :) LOL - I dont think that is what I want to hear when I am waking up in the morning, not sure about you?

So tonight after listening to the two commercials most of the day, we made the decision....Which one is going to be playing, not able to tell you but listen to Kool 99.5 and you decide if we made the correct choice....
