Router Bits

Hi everyone - it is the last day of July for 2007, where has the summer gone. Well I got a great question from Richard about dadoing shelves for his entertainment center and was wondering what type of bit to use. He has 1/2" oak plywood for the shelves and was wondering about what type of bit to use. I was not a 100% sure what he should use so I contacted the expects at Freud, they told me that the best to use would be the following:

Double Flute Straight Bit: Undersized Plywood Bits

04-127 which is a 1-5/32" Overall Diameter (15/32") with the Carbide Height of 3/4" and has a 1/4" Shank Diameter and the Overall Length is 2" - Found on page 4 of the Router Accessories and sells for $22.54.

12-114 which is a 1-5/32" Overall Diameter (15/32") with the Carbide Height of 1-1/4" and has a 1/2" Shank Diameter and the Overall Length of 2-7/8" - Found on page 2 of the Router Accessories and sells for $24.59.

The many differences of these bits is the Shank Diameter, most Routers will except either shank size and it is all of personal preference but make sure you know before purchasing a bit that it will fit your router.

Richard - please send a picture of your finished project and we will post it on the blog for others to see.

Hope this helps out Richard with his project, please keep sending your questions to Sara@ToolDepot247.com, if I dont have the answer I will find out from an expert.

Friday

What a crazy day today has been. We are working on loading Freud Router Bits and talking about making a Milwaukee Landing page - which means Milwaukee would then approve us for an Authorized Milwaukee E-Commerce Link. Other than that we have had all of the sales guys in driving everyone crazy with them thinking that they are the most important things and we dont have our own work that needs to be done.

Milwaukee has their new V18 1/4" Hex Impact Driver coming out next month with (2) V18 Lithium-ion Batteries, Charger and Case - we have them already in stock in the new LIthium-ion 3 pc Combo Kit. Starting August 1st to the end of September, if you purchase a V28 Combo Kit or a V28 Tool/Kit - you can receive a free V28 Bare Tool (I would tell everyone to purchase a Tool or Combo Kit and get the V28 Impact Driver Bare Tool). They also finally included the V28 Bandsaw this time - it is the first time that they have done that.
