More on the Race...

Well Everyone

They are back from the races...the times are in and so are the pictures. They met alot of interesting people with the different back ground from all around North America. The closest people that they met was from Wakefield, Ne and are a customer of The New Sioux City Iron Company and Tool Depot. They also met others from Hawaii, Canada (running from the Mounties - I dont have all of the information on that one but he sounded pretty cool) and from California (they helped get their bags from Ely to Vegas). They had a great time and I am here to share more pictures from their trip.

This was at the Football field in Ely, they were judging the cars and the final walk thru for everyone to see the different cars that were going for a race. The car below has a wrap on it - it is pretty cool.Above is the Nascar Army Car - here is it crossing the starting line before the race.
Below is my favorite car!!!

I was just informed that all of the times have been updated on Silver State Classics.

On their way back from Vegas, they ended up taking an extra day and spent it in the Grand Canyon. They were driving back from Ely, earlier in the week they had be take the National Parks Lodge book from their house, so I picked the lodge that they stayed at so basically they did my vacation. At least they had a great time and from the pictures of the canyon are really awesome.
Next blog we will talk about the new products we are bringing in from Milwaukee.

The Results to the BIG RACE!!!

Hey Everyone

So are you wondering how everything turned out in Nevada at the Silver State Classic Challenge?

We in the 105 class the BIG Guy placed 3rd!!!! (Which totally means he has a Lead Foot and from now on he can't be telling me to be slowing down), his average speed was 104.9827 that is just plain awesome for speed, . As for being a Rookie in the race he was totally in 1st place!!!

They ended up receiving silver platters, as soon as they pass them on I will post them for all to see.

Tonight they are staying at the South Edge of the Grand Canyon and they called me to tell me what a great pick for a vacation it was (it is my location of choice) they are also staying in the honeymoon suite. Should of renewed their vows in Vegas with Elvis. Would of been pretty cool to me.

Silver State Classics Challenge Part 2.....

Hey Everyone:

Keeping up with what is going on in Nevada and the Silver State Classic Challenge.....

First off the Big Guy and Kathy have past inspection from the car to their helmets!!! So they are READY TO RACE!!!!!! The Big Guy will be racing at an Average speed of 105 and can't go over 124 mph. (SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF FUN TO ME). At this average speed it will take them 51.4268 to go 90 miles. That is pretty cool!!!

That guy in the red shirt is the Big Guy promoting his milwaukee status to the people of Nevada!!!

So you might also be wondering what types of cars are in the Silver State Classic Challenge (I did not know so I asked and I did receive some pretty awesome looking cars!!!) So they take most of the cars on a parade thru the downtown area and if there is room in the car the Boy Scott's are allowed to ride in the cars during the parade.

There are porshes, vipers, mustangs, chargers and of course the Big Guys favorite Vette's....

My favorite is of course the Silver Mustang - there is just something about this car that makes me want to hop in and go for a drive!!!

The sponsors for the race are K & N Air Filters, Optium Batteries and Royal Purple Lubricants. Which everyone in the race puts the stickers on their cars for the race.

They have met a few people from around the area, Wakefieild, Ne, Moline, Il and Lincoln, Ne. As for today, Kathy is heading for a mandatory race meeting for the Navigator and the Big Guy is headed over to the football stadium for the car to be judged before racing begins.
Hope you enjoyed seeing what else is going on at ToolDepot247.com, I will keep you posted on the race outcome sometime tomorrow.

Not about Tools but deals with ToolDepot247.com - interest story

Hey Everyone
Normally I get on here and talk about the different types of tools that are coming out or new products we are stocking. Well today we are going to talk about something a bit different (Not Julie and Julia different but Car DIFFERENT)!!!!!!!!!!!!
This weekend in Nevada there is a Car Race called the "Silver Classics", which take place out by Las Vegas (hello lights). The Big ToolGuy and his wife are out there getting ready to go for a ride. Click on the link below to see the route on 318 and what it takes to enter.
http://www.sscc.us/ - Silver State Classic Challenge

Before they could leave for the BIG Race, the Tool Guy first had to get the car. Then this summer he did the following, put in a specialized RollBar, 5 pt seatbelts, specialty placed fire extingusher, purchase 2 stopwatches and set up the GPS, then they were off.
After all of the inside items done he did some specialty stickers on the outside:
on the windshield in red is: http://www.tooldepot247.com/
Both side panels is:
Sioux City Iron Co, Milwaukee
Tool Depot w/wrench (which was designed by Maurer Sign - new company in Sioux City)
Sioux City, IA - LeMars, Ia - Sioux Falls, SD

They left on Monday, September 14th on 77 down to Lincoln, Nebraska, across Nebraska on 80 into Colorado to 76 to 77 and down 15 to Vegas.

The big Guy is at Driving School to find out the speed he can travel during the race on Sunday. His wife, Kathy, will be attending Navigator school to help the Big Guy win the race.

There are a bunch of different rules that they have to follow:
First time drivers have to go to driving school and can't drive over 124 mph - the big Guy is at Driving School this morning and then will be hanging out in Vegas until they caravan to Ely, Nevada. That is all I know for now - I will keep you posted on the trip during the meantime.

Here are some pictures that we took before they left on there trip:

ToolGuy with a Toolgal Hammer

Well Everyone -

The one man (The Toolguy) has been telling me that our Toolgal Hammers are just plain waste of time but today ended up having to use a Toolgal Hammer. I have the pictures to prove it. I know it is GREAT!!!!

So what is the Toolguy doing - he was fixing the antique filing cabinets in the office. One of the brass holders fell off and he need a hammer so I gave him one.

I also know of another man in town that I will call the "Italian Stallion" that stole his wife's Christmas gift, Toolgal Hammer with Leopard and Hot Pink all blinged up, to use it before she got to make sure it worked correctly.

If you are looking for a Blinged up Hammer, they are available at all of the Tool Depot Stores and will be on the site soon!!!

Biesemeyer Fence - Unisaw Reinvented Part 2

Hey Everyone

Continuing on with our trip through the plant, my favorite part was seeing how they build the Biesemeyer Fence (remember these are handmade in Jackson, TN). The Biesemeyer T-Square saw fence system comes with every Unisaw. The fence has a three point locking system that ensures the fence is precisely parallel to the blade and provides a clean cut accurate to 1/64" of an inch.

The 9-ply fence faces are manufactured to unmatched tolerances. They take additional steps in milling the wood faces to be parallel to the tubing. A durable layer of heavy-duty laminate is added to reduce friction, the improvements are also include a cam front lock lever withcurved edge so the snap of the positive lock can be felt. There is a strong magnet in the cam that keeps the handle in an upright position when the fence is not in use. Cradles located on the table board legs store the fence in a convenient location for quick access. The table board is available in both 36" and 52".

All of the fences are handmade and tested before they leave the plant to ensure the accuracy for the perfect continuous cut.

The Biesemeyer Outfeed table is designed with a completely with 14-ga steel so the table stays truer longer. The legs are interconnected for added strength. There is also an additional 4' x 44" workspace for the shop.

There is also a new feature that many are not talking about - How about the new Premium Woodworking Blades...Delta is coming out with a new line of 10" Circular Saw Blades ~ These will be released after the Unisaw's are released. They are including a 10" 50T Wood Saw Blade with the purchase of the Saw.

The Unisaw with Biesemeyer Fence is Mapped (Manufactures Advertised Purchase Price) is $2995.00.

This saw is pretty impressing ~ keep a look out for more information.

New Delta UniSaw

Hey Everyone

Well we at Tool Depot and Tool Depot247.com have been busy with new products that our vendors are bring out this year. To start off with we (the Toolguy and I) were invited to Jackson, TN to see the Porter Cable/Delta Warehouse. This was an awesome event for us to go too. We saw the NEW Delta UniSaw that was Re-Invented!!!!

A bit of history about the Unisaw - The first Unisaw turned the industry upside down in 1938 with the first 10" Tilting arbor saw. This saw was the choice for woodworkers, furniture makers and cabinet installers.

So why did Delta feel that it was time to upgrade the Unisaw?

Why ~ that is kind of an easy question to answer, the Tablesaw is the starting focal point to a woodworker's workshop, the tablesaw is the most important part of the workshop. More important than the bandsaw, planer, scroll saw or the jointer (all of these are important but to create the best product you need to start with the best cut you can).

The new Unisaw is pretty awesome, the saw is 99.5% made in the United States with a single-cast Trunnion System while the previous saw had a 3 piece Trunnion. So what does this mean for You the consumer, Enhanced Vibration Control, Dual Front Cranks, Continuous Smooth Operation and Dependable Accuracy.

One of the biggest changes from the older Unisaw to the newer Unisaw is the SURE-LOCK dual front cranks. With the relocation of the blade height and bevel cranks to the front of the saw you can operate the saw with ease. Plus twist the center of either crank to engage the SURE-LOCK cranks to elimate errors that can be caused if the cranks are hit or bumped out of alignment.

They also added the new Precision bevel gauge that is easy to read and accurate to 1/4 degree. If the gauge ever falls out of alignment, there is a very easy fix ~ grab an allen wrench to fine-tune the blade bevel which means no more fumbling around in the cabinet for adjustments.

I think the coolest part of the new Unisaw is the cabinet construction that is Domestically-made with heavy gauged shet meal that is rock-solid and has unmatched stability. There is also more Work Surface Area, they increased the area from the front of the blade to the front of the saw to 15" for greater control. The space behind the blade is also wider and deeper for increased stability when running larger pieces of wood through the saw.

Now about the Power!!! The Unisaw now comes with a User-Requested Marathon Motor, which is an American Motor Manufacture that has a proven track record in both industrial and woodworking applications. The motor will be available in 3 & 5 HP configurations.

There is now a Larger Throat Plate Opening and Arbor Lock. A Robust on/off switch. The multi-directional off switch can be activated from any angle making it easier and aafer to use.

How about storage for your Unisaw so you can find the accessories for your Unisaw? They got that handled as well with a storage drawer that has 5 slots to saw blades. Cool, well there is more ~ It can also hold 2 riving knives, an arbor nut flange, the entire rise and fall split guard assembly, push stick, arbor wrench & throat plate. The new Unisaw comes with 1 drawer but you can purchase more drawers to be added to Unisaw. They also added a built-in storage for the BIESEMEYER fence and for the deluxe miter gauge directly on the body of the saw.

You probably are wondering about Dust Extraction ~ The new design captures dust from beneath the blade and from the bottom of the cabinet at the same time. The new dust shroud directly below the blade and the tightly sealed cabinet interior.

So if you have a tablesaw now do you use the Guard on the saw. I am guessing not but you will use the NEW Tool-Free Split Guard Design. This system has atrue rise-and-fall riving knife that incorporates components that can be easily added or removed depending on the application.

Well there is more to the New Delta Unisaw Reinvented and it is the best part ~ The BIESEMEYER fence!!!

Remember Tool Depot Sioux City and Sioux Falls is open on Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and in LeMars from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Saws are not to be released until end of March begining of April but I will keep you posted on all of it.

Remember check back later tomorrow and we will talk more about the BIESEMEYER fence and the improvements made from the old to the new.
