Life, Football and Christmas

Hey Everyone

Who would of thought that the last time I was on here was September 3o but I have not been idle. To start with most who know me know I am a huge Hawkeye fan, yes I know the year has not been as great as last year but we can't complain to much. I have made it to Iowa City for most of the games participation. Michigan State - we had awesome seats in section 115, row 7, seat 7 & 8. we slaughter Michigan State 37-6. We also had God in Iowa City (it was Halloween).
Other then that we have been been hanging out and making new friends in Iowa City, college students and others visiting Iowa City, other Hawkeyes or from the opposing teams.

What else has been going on??? Well let me tell you........

1) We have been receiving all of the new products that I purchased at the True Value show in September (Vegas Baby). Who would of thought that I would of purchased that many new items for the stores and we have been having great success with them.

2) We have been getting ready for Christmas with our full page Sioux City Journal Ads (the first one came out November 14) and our Thanksgiving Ad is printed and ready to go. We have some hot deals but I can't tell you about them yet. You will just have to purchase the Sioux City Journal on November 25 to see the hot deals. They are HOT HOT HOT.

We also have been working on the new location.....Spencer, Iowa. Yes it is in the works but will not be opening until Summer 2011. We have the outdoor signs for the building done and the new dock has been completed.

So we are ready for Christmas, the new promotional items have came in, as of today, and tomorrow the Hawkeyes play the Buckeyes. Who is going to win, I am hoping for the Hawks but it all depends on which team shows up to play.

Later and GO HAWKS

LeMars and Taxes

Hey Everyone

Everyone loves a good conflict, well I witnessed a good one today between Tool Depot (Toolguy) and the county of Plymouth. This has been going on for a while because the taxes in LeMars has been going up and up on a 15,000 sq ft building. With all of the buildings that Tool Depot operates out of LeMars's building has the most expensive taxes at $9047.00. The new location in Spencer, IA is around $4000.00 and is bigger than LeMars. Sioux City's location is around 20,000 sq ft and the taxes are around $7100.00. Sioux Falls which has a larger population based in Minnehaha county has cheaper taxes. This is all public knowledge if you know how to get into the county assessors offices.
So what did we do today??? This is the exciting part....

The Toolguy called up KMEG 14, they showed up today at Industrial Tools n Machinery at 11:00 am to do an interview, which lasted around an hour.

The next stop was Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Sioux City, with the camera crew and picked up $9000.00 in pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters and dollar bills.

We then went to the Sioux City Tool Depot picked up a couple of 2 wheel carts and a helper. Then on to LeMars, Iowa where we met up with the camera crew and got some more helpers.

Next stop was the Plymouth County Courthouse......Where we had the 2 camera crew, 4 helpers to carry in the money, the Toolguy and me, the Toolgal. We then took the 3, 2 wheel carts, up 2 different flights of stairs and wheeled the money into the treasure's office. The Toolguy was then asked if he could be helped. He handed off his ticket for his taxes and told the helpers to unload the money onto the counter. The guy at the counter looked at Ron and told him he would be right back.

The next thing that happened was funny, Linda, the county treasurer, came out of the back room (probably from her office) and asked if she could help the Toolguy. He said he was there to pay his taxes, she said 3 times, "You would like to pay your taxes with Cash?" He said "Yes."

She then said she would be right back. She came back and had 2 sheriff officers with her, don't forget during this time the camera guys were still shooting the counter with the money on it, the first guy that helped us came with a cart. The sheriff and him loaded up all of the money onto the cart. Next stop First National Bank of LeMars to have the federal boxes opened, the coin broke open to be counted and the dollar bills counted by hand as the machine did not work.

After getting to the courthouse at 1:45 pm, we got done at the bank at 3:30 pm. The best part of the trip to the bank, the Toolguy got 12 cents and 3 Canadian quarters back.

As a treat for being good while I waited we went the Ice Shop for some sundae's and malts!!!
In all we had a GREAT DAY!!!! Check us out at ToolDepot247.com, Facebook - ToolDepot.

Football and New Items!!!

Hey Everyone ~ It has been a crazy last couple of weeks, especially with the start of the Football Season and getting ready for a buying show in Vegas baby!!! :)

Starting off, I am a huge Hawkeye Fan, I definitely have to say "Go Hawks" especially after last week's game against Iowa State. Yes it was not definitely not something to brag about because there is NO way they are in the same league as the Hawks. This weekend will show what we have going for us and what the future shows for us......

So on to Vegas.......

We left Sioux City on Sunday and headed west on Southwest Airlines and landed in HOT Las Vegas, when I say Hot try 96 degrees hot with the humidity of the midwest. Checked into our hotel on the strip. The hotel was Bally's and the rooms were gorgeous....my room rocked because I faced Paris and had a view of the Eiffel Tower.

So during the show we saw a lot of new products and placed orders for products we already stocked. Some of the new items was an automatic screwdriver that is spring loaded, wood glue from Gorilla Glue, so many new items from Fein Power Tools (small side note: after watching the demonstration that Fein was doing in their booth it really is the BEST ITEM....but only if you are comparing apple's to apple's - they were showing the FMM250QTOP with the quick change adapters against the others that had a starscrew adapters, YES there is a difference. Even Ryan (he was the demonstrator) said he would not use the FMM250START because it does not have the quick change). A few of the other items also include: Schumacher chargers, Generac Inventors, Makita's Tablesaw, cell phone cases that include Leather and Canvas, one was also for women - it had a spot for a Cell Phone, Lipstick, credit cards/ID's and don't forget a mirror. We had a very productive show. I can't wait to see all come in and get it around to all of the stores.

Next I need to share of few of the awesome pictures from Vegas that I took.

Enjoy and keep watching for the new items, I will keep you posted when the new items show up and GO HAWKEYES!!! ;)

Bristol Race and Tools

Hey Everyone

We know that Toolguys love Nascar, we know that I so enjoy Nascar, especially when the race is at Bristol (love it!!!). So one thing I am always looking at is what tools the Nascar Crew Guys are using to either fix the cars or to take them apart!!!

So during the Nascar wreck between Jimmy Johnson and Juan Pablo, Jimmy came to his pit box and did anyone see what tools these guys pulled out!!! Dewalt and Milwaukee Nicd Tools, I dont get this, why are they not using the new Lithium-ion Tools or at least Lithium-ion Batteries. They have all the new technology on the car with Motors, Tires, Shocks and they are using old technology to put the cars together.

Here is my recommendation to the Nascar Crews, come to Tool Depot in Sioux City, Ia, LeMars, Ia or Sioux Falls, SD after September 1, 2010 - trade in your old nicd tools for $100.00 towards any M18 combo kits/single tool kits, must have a tool (cordless), (2) batteries and a charger. You will not believe the differences between the old Nicd batteries verus the new Lithium-ion batteries. I have noticed this myself, nicd is more of a chug chug, while the lithium batteries has a smooth run.

I can't make them change their tools but if you want to be the best of the best, you need to have the best tools to make it happen.

Cordless Tools

Hey Everyone

I was at a friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago and was asked a questions that I get asked alot.

Who has the best tools? This is a trick question because there are alot of cordless tools out there. Milwaukee, DeWalt, Bosch, Panasonic, Festool just to name a few that we stock. The major difference in Cordless Tools is their batteries. With the change of technology the batteries are getting lighter so the tools are lighter, just like our cell phones, you don't see kids running around with bag phones like my mom did in the late 80's, early 90's.

So to rephase the question, "Who has the best battery technology out there at the most reasonable price?" I would have to say Milwaukee, yes you can see by the website we are a very red store. My dad is also a Milwaukee Tool Guy and he has not had problems with his tools, I had one of his drills and it stopped drilling so I traded it in and got my own M12 pocket driver.

Milwaukee has done the testing and retesting on the Lithium-ion batteries, not that they did not have problems coming to the market with the V18 series but the new M18 and M12 volt series they have a few batteries issues but they have been standing their products.

Why not DeWalt's Lithium-ion technology? They have not had the tools on the market as long as the milwaukee, they don't have the run time that milwaukee has or the extra features like the battery gauge so you can see what is left on the battery because using it half way through your project and then having to quit because the battery is dead.

DeWalt's nicd technology, everyone knows that these batteries dont have the run time that other nicd batteries have and the reasoning behind it is the following: Milwaukee has a slide on battery so the Positive and the Negative always line up when the battery is in place. DeWalt's Positive and Negative do tend to move around after the battery has been dropped, then you dont get the power and the battery is junk.

If you want the BEST cordless tool/batteries - you need to go to Festool, the german's know how to make cordless tools and their beers!!!

Have a great day (no we dont have a suggestion box)

We are on Facebook

Hey Everyone -

We have been on facebook for a while now but we are having a bigger push on getting up to 400 friends. Once we hit that 400 friends you will receive special discounts on your purchases!!! We are Tool Depot on facebook.

We have also added new lines to our tool groupings, Grey Pneumatic Sockets and Sets. Right now we are not stocking the individual pieces but we are stocking the sets and the adapters. The adapters have very strong magnetics to hold them together so if you have a 3/4" socket but a 3/8" ratchet you can adapt the socket down to the ratchet you have in stock.

We also added Gear Wrench, Energizer Batteries in Lithium and Alkaline. I don't if anyone has tried the blue energizer batteries but you don't know what you are missing!!! These batteries last a good 4 times longer than the regular aklaline batteries. They only come in 9V, AAA or AA's batteries but these are the ones that most need for remote controls, camera's and milwaukee's test and measurement tools.

Watch for updates on Facebook and online!!

Bristol, TN - Nascar

Hey Everyone:

I told you I would share pictures and what took place at the Nascar Race in Bristol, TN!!!! First off I need to Thank, Tool Depot's Irwin rep, Sean, he rocks!!! He gave us 2 tickets, 1 hotel room for 3 nights and Pit Passes (sad I did not get to see Dale Jr up close and personal but I did get some great pictures).

We took off Friday, March 19, 2010 from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, had a two hour lay over in Chicago, Il and landed in Knoxville, TN. Once we got to Knoxville, TN - we had a 2 hour drive to Bristol, TN. We only got lost once but it was my fault (at least 1/2 of it) the road was not clearly marked to get to Bristol (I also did not know that Bristol is actually in Tennesse and in Virginia - just a cool fact if you did not know that).

Once we got to Bristol, we checked into the hotel, got settled and headed over to Outback, yes we have one of these in Sioux City, Iowa but this town only had national chains so we made the best of what it had to offer. After having a wonderful drink and eating a thick juicy steak, we headed back to the hotel and wandered into the bar to see what was going on. They were playing 80's music that made you want to dance (or in my case chair dancing!!!) We (my mom and I) were the minority in the bar (surprise surprise - Nascar fans are normally Male) and we sat at a table and had another drink to relax after a long day of traveling and talk with others that were around us. One couple was from Virginia and has season tickets (they said that Dover was their favorite and she also was a HUGE Dale Jr Fan). We also met Darren and Greg from Southeastern Missouri - they wanted to go swimming, more about these two as they were always in some kind of trouble but made the trip something not to be forgotten. There was also this guy that would not leave me alone but was supposely a great cook and had 3 sisters, his name was (this is what he told us) John Christopher.

Saturday, March 20, 2010, we get up around 9:00 am (after the alarm went off at 6:30 am - sounded like a fire alarm during elementry school) got ready and headed down for a quick bite and then off to the race!!!!! I was so excited I think I drove my mother nuts with the chatter!!!
We drove straight to the track and started looking for a place to park and ended up parking in a field for $20.00 a day (not bad since on the other side it was $30.00 and had bigger hills to walk up). Bristol Race Track is set on top of a huge hill is the only way to explain it - see the picture below(I will add later). We walked all around and looked at all of the trailers full of t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, coolers, cars and stuff!!! I purchased a couple of shirts and we hopped on a tractor/taxi service and received a ride to the top of the track and around. At the back of the track we decided to get off the free taxi service and walked over to the Irwin Booth, saw the Speed Channel's booth and the Amp car. While we were standing there they (amp people) let this guy and gal get into the car and do a burn out!!! That was pretty freaking cool - they went around 3 times and when the guy got out he was jumping up and down, grabbing the guy on the stage and was yelling and screaming like a crazy person. It was pretty freaking awesome!!! Well I am going to be getting to the cool stuff so I am going to quit and write again tomorrow about Saturday's practice for the Sprint Cup, the Nationwide Race and the All-Star Race. Talk to you all tomorrow. Toolgal
